CREATIVE MEDIA SKILLS OPENS ITS DOORS AT PINEWOOD STUDIOS

An innovative and energetic young company has recently opened its doors at Pinewood Studios.

Based on the top floor of the Props Building, it is positioned at the very heart of the action. CMS, Creative Media Skills provides world class training for Film and TV in a variety of fields such as Hair/ costume/ special effects/ production design / producing/ directing and many others. Great care has been taken by CMS to create a light, spacious, professional environment in which film and tv crew can enhance existing skills, enabling them to step up to the highest level in their chosen field.

CMS courses are taught by an elite band of tutors who have reached top levels of success….. Many of whom have also been recognised  by the British and American academies for their excellence.

Ailie Smith, the CEO of Creative Media Skills, has herself worked on many feature films including most recently Mad Max Fury Road, a film which has enjoyed great success and critical acclaim throughout the world for its innovative and imaginative post-apocalyptic design.

For the past three years CMS has been expanding its courses throughout the UK in Belfast, Glasgow, Salford and Cardiff. Many more are planned with the intention of bringing a gold standard of training to locations that are fast becoming film and tv favourites. Ailie believes that bringing top level industry professionals to work as tutors on courses in these regions emphasises Creative Media Skills commitment to nurturing emerging talent. By providing excellent training, film and tv crews can be confident to compete at the highest level not only within their region but across the UK and worldwide.

This summer, CMS are running courses during the month of August which are aimed at 14 to 18 year olds who are interested in careers in film and television. The five day masterclasses will include introductions to costume design, prosthetics & sfx makeup and producing writing and directing.

It is crucial to attract young, talented creative people of diverse backgrounds into the industry to strengthen its core, as well as providing  opportunities for existing professions to step up to the very highest levels of excellence. This is the remit of Creative Media Skills.
