Planning application submitted for a surface level car park on Pinewood East
A detailed planning application for a surface level car park on land to the south of Pinewood East (Phase 3) and east of Pinewood Road has been submitted by Pinewood Studios.
The land has past planning permissions for a variety of uses, including a temporary car park, sound stages, offices and workshops. The land was used as a temporary car park during summer 2025.
The car park will be accessed via the existing entrance to Pinewood East, with internal roadways extended to serve the new car park. There will be a pedestrian access linking the new car park with the original Pinewood Studios.
The car park will provide 540 parking spaces, including electric vehicle charging stations, motorcycle parking, cycle storage and disabled parking bays. The car park has also been designed to accommodate film trailers.
The car park will have a secure boundary to include a 2.4m high palisade fence and pedestrian turnstile. CCTV will provide coverage of the fence lines and pedestrian footpath. There will be spaces in the fence line to allow animals such as deer, foxes, and badgers to pass through.
The eastern and southern boundaries of the car park will be surrounded by a landscape bund with natural variations in height, providing visual screening from Pinewood Green as well as habitat for flora and fauna. Deer fencing will protect newly planted trees and shrubs. Trees and shrubs will be species native to the United Kingdom. A mixture of grass and wildflowers will also be planted. The development will achieve a 10% biodiversity net gain.
The extended internal roadway is carefully located through a gap between two existing oak trees, limiting the impact of development on the established tree line between Pinewood East and the proposed car park.
The car park will drain to the existing attenuation pond which was originally designed and constructed to accommodate the expansion of Pinewood East. The pond will hold surface water and release it at the same rate as existing water, to match greenfield run off rates. Separate to the proposed development, Pinewood Studios will be undertaking maintenance of ditches under its ownership this Spring.
The car park will be lit with LED lights and designed in accordance with guidance which limits lights spill and protects bats. Lighting will be controlled via timers and sensors and will not be permanently illuminated during the night.
Residents will be able to continue their use of the Clump and surrounding fields which are owned by Pinewood Studios, including the permissive paths which crisscross the fields.
The planning application reference is PL/26/03063/FA. A plan for the proposed car park can be found below. For more information about the planned works and application please visit Buckinghamshire Council planning website here.
Subject to the grant of planning permission, construction would commence late summer with completion targeted late 2026. The construction period is approximately 3 months.
