Role summary

The Group Security Manager will be responsible for supporting the Head of Group Security in delivering robust physical and technical security services that ensure the safety and protection of Pinewood Group, our colleagues, customers and visitors.

The main responsibilities of the Group Security Manager are:

Supporting the Head of Group Security in providing specialist technical and professional support and governance in the provision and management of Pinewood Group’s security services. Ensuring the implementation and maintenance of the security system, technology, infrastructure, operating procedures and over-arching strategy. The Group Security Manager will play an integral role in building and managing the relationship between the Studio and its customers on all matters of security.

Supporting the SOC Operatives in their day-to-day operational requirements and the delivery of Security Operations Centre (SOC) operations, including support to incident management; CCTV & alarm monitoring. Support the incumbent Group Security Manager who has primary responsibility of the SOC Team.

Assisting in delivering Change programmes both internally to Pinewood staff and externally to the Security contractors as well productions and tenants.

Co-ordinating the Contracted Manned Guarding as well as the Technical security elements and liaising and directing the external Security managers.

Principle accountabilities

  • Support operational decision making within the SOC and assist in emergency situations as directed by the incident manager. Support current Group Security Manager who is the primary manager for the SOC.
  • Be an out of hours initial point of conduct for escalation.
  • Be accountable for ensuring that appropriate and reasonable security measures are implemented and maintained throughout the different Pinewood Group sites, in line with good industry and sector practice.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the business.
  • Review security incidents and SHOUT reports to ensure they are suitable & sufficient for dissemination to the wider business.
  • Ensure that CCTV and access control systems are continuously functioning correctly. Create an auditing schedule for all systems, and ensure system faults and failures are identified, recorded, and escalated to the technical security team.
  • Report to, and liaise on a daily basis with, the Head of Group Security to ensure effective communication on all matters pertaining to Security.
  • Act as the principle point of contact for Pinewood Group customers and internal departments in the absence of the Group Head of Security in regards to all aspects of technical and manned security. This will include planning and risk assessment of specialist circumstances and events, in addition to leading on investigations and post incident audits, and the construction of security strategies for new builds, expansions and changes of use.
  • Contribute on the specification and procurement of future manned and technical security contracts.

Nature and Scope

The Group Security Manager will support the Group Head of Security to manage all aspects of physical and technical security for both Shepperton and Pinewood sites, proactively utilising technology to protect the studios and provide clear direction to the team. This will involve effective continuous improvement and coordinating of resources.

They will support the effective operational response to incidents and emergency situations by leading on monitoring security, fire and safety systems reporting deficiencies for response / remedial actions.

They will take ownership for self-development within the role to ensure that in the absence of the Group Head of Security the continuity of business, including maintaining our contractual and service level agreements to the security Banner leads, is maintained.

Skills and experience

Essential criteria
  • SIA Licence
  • Managing customer focused security operations and strong communication skills essential, ideally from a Studios background.
  • High level knowledge of relevant equipment and systems specific to Pinewood Group.
  • IT proficient with a working knowledge of Word, Office and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, explaining questions or requirements and responding to customers, colleagues and contractors
  • Ability to give clear instructions and provide leadership and general support.
  • Able to plan and prioritise work dynamically whilst using problem solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain and develop positive working relationships with Management, stakeholders and direct reports through excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
Desirable criteria
  •  Level 5 and above security or business continuity qualifications or wiliness to work towards them.
  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced security manager ideally from a guarding, control room or Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC).
  • Knowledge of security system design and relevant British Standards including BS 7958; 2015)
  • Project management experience or qualifications.
