Role summary
The Head Grounds Operative (Head GO) at Shepperton Studios is responsible for the daily oversight and leadership of the Grounds Operative team, ensuring that the external areas of the studios are maintained to the highest standards.
Hours of work: 8 hours per day, between the hours of 05:00 – 16:00 Monday – Friday, with one Saturday every month.
Principle accountabilities
- Actively monitor all external site standards to ensure the highest standard.
- Ensure that the safety of yourself, your team and our customers is our priority on all works carried out.
- Lead and encourage the ground operative team to deliver a world class service for our customers.
- Support and develop the ground operative team with relevant certified courses and in house training on all aspects of safe working.
- Report to the Head of Cleaning and Grounds on all aspects of grounds management, actively planning schedules of work and flagging operational requirements or concerns.
- Maintaining the LOC8 schedule of works for the GO team.
- Overseeing vehicle inspections / maintenance undertaken by the team.
- Plan team tasks for maintenance of grounds, tools and equipment.
- Overseeing stock control of GO consumables within agreed budget.
- Ensure all GO team areas for storage are kept in a safe and compliant manner.
- Use and encourage use of the ‘shout’ function for H&S reporting of concerns
- Liaison with the asset management team and HOCG regarding servicing or repair of any of the team vehicles.
- List and audit regularly of all GO assets to maintain equipment data base and ensure awareness of care for assets
Nature and scope
The Head GO takes accountability for setting the team daily and weekly schedules and ensuring such tasks are completed in a professional, safe manner and efficient timeframe.
The principal responsibility to ensure the externals of the Studio Estate are maintained to the highest standards, with cleanliness throughout and professional maintenance of green spaces, including but not limited too road sweeping, litter picking, strimming and ground works . The Head GO encapsulates the group values and ensures the team works in a safe and compliant environment with health and safety at the forefront of all tasks undertaken.
Skills and experience
Essential criteria
- Full UK Driving License
- Good Standard of secondary education, proficient in English and Math’s
- Excellent leadership, motivational and communication skills in a practical work-based environment
- Dedicated team player
- The ability to trouble-shoot problems and think laterally
- Commercial industry experience and knowledge of sector
- Good working knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace
Desirable criteria
- Class 2 HGV Driving Licence to be able to Operate the HGV Road Sweeper
- Health and Safety IOSH managing safely.
- Forklift truck driving, Telehandler, MEWP
