Pinewood Group Commemorate D-Day 80th Anniversary with red, white and blue entrance features
Today is the 80th anniversary of D-Day, on Tuesday 6 June 1944 Allied forces launched a combined invasion by land, air and sea along the coast of Normandy. The huge military operation ultimately created the path to victory for the Allies and the end of World War II.
We have lit up our Studio gates at both Pinewood and Shepperton in red, white and blue to honour the brave souls who fought and made sacrifices for our freedom. The official film and photographic record of the D-Day landings was taken by No. 5 AFPU (Army Film and Photographic Unit). Members of the AFPU were based and trained at Pinewood Studios before being embedded with formations during the landings.
Set designers and technicians based at Shepperton Studios created decoy aircrafts.
