| Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Jeremy Wright, was accompanied by Pinewood’s Chairman, Paul Golding, Corporate Affairs Director, Andrew M. Smith and three of Pinewood’s apprentices today (17 September 2018) as they broke ground marking the second phase of Pinewood’s ¬£200m private sector expansion project.
The second phase of the expansion of Pinewood Studios includes the construction of four sound stages, workshops, offices and ancillary facilities, including a new backlot for the construction of external film sets. The completed project is expected to come on line towards the end of 2019. The company also recently submitted a planning application to modernise and substantially increase the size of Shepperton Studios. If approved, the development would involve a private sector investment of approximately ¬£500m.
