Pinewood Remembers Dame Barbara Windsor

We are deeply saddened to hear of Dame Barbara Windsor’s passing. A wonderful character actress, national treasure and dear friend of Pinewood and Shepperton Studios.

Barbara began her film career as one of the schoolgirls in The Belles of St Trinian’s, shot at Shepperton and released in 1954. Further films shot at Pinewood and Shepperton include; On the Fiddle (1961) – starring alongside Sir Sean Connery, Hair of the Dog (1962), Chitty Chitty Chitty Bang and nine of the 31 Carry On Films.

In 2016 Barbara was made a dame for her services to charity and entertainment and after her dementia diagnosis Dame Barbara became an ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Barbara contributed to the Jonathan Ross hosted documentary, Pinewood: 80 Years of Movie Magic, and last year we named a road in her honour at Pinewood Studios; “Barbara Windsor Way”.

She will be forever remembered and admired.
