Pinewood Toronto Studios officially opens new purpose-built stages

Pinewood Toronto Studios welcomed back friends of the studios, film and television executives and talent today, to celebrate the official opening of two, all-new, purpose-built stages. With a further three sound stages currently in construction, upon completion at the end of the year, the new development will be in excess of 200,000 square feet of production space, of which 102,000 square feet will be sound stages.

The celebratory event included key address from Deputy Mayor Michael Thompson, paid homage to previous and current productions filmed at the Toronto facility, and featured a sneak-peek behind the scenes on the lot. Also in attendance to help celebrate was Pinewood Toronto Studios Chair of the Board, Paul Bronfman, and ETALK’s Traci Melchor.

Pinewood Toronto Studios is the largest purpose-built production studio in Ontario. On completion of the expansion, the production facilities at the site will have nearly doubled to 525,000 square feet. This significant increase in capacity will enable the Studios to further support the ever-growing demand for studio space from domestic and international film and television clients.
