| A Service of Remembrance took place at Pinewood to commemorate those who fought and lost their lives in the First and Second World War.
The service, led by Father Andrew Montgomerie, involved a number of poignant readings and a two minute silence. Wreaths were laid at Pinewood’s memorial plaque in memory of those members of the Army and Royal Air Force film units who lost their lives in the Second World War. The service was attended by members of the local community and Pinewood staff, with readings by the Rt Hon Lord Howe, Minister of Defence and Air Cdre Mark Jeffrey. Also in attendance was George Sibley, representing the British legion, who is now aged 104. This Sunday’s Armistice Day marks 100 years since the formal agreement of warring parties was signed in November 1918, bringing an end to the First World War. |
