Plans for Pinewood Studios’ expansion move forward with decision from Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities

The Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, has decided not to call in Pinewood Studios’ expansion plans clearing the way for Buckinghamshire Council to issue planning permission. The Council resolved to grant planning permission for the 750,000 sq ft scheme in December 2021.

This decision will allow the progression of Pinewood Group’s £500 million plans to invest in and expand the world-class facility, increasing capacity for film and high-end television production in the UK.

The proposed development for new studio space includes sound stages, a skills and training hub, a business growth hub and a major film inspired visitor attraction.  In addition, there are plans to extensively enhance the ecology and biodiversity of the area around the development and bring further considerable benefits to the community of Buckinghamshire.

We are delighted with the Secretary of State’s decision, which will allow us to progress with the expansion plans without delay. As we move forwards with the development we will continue to work with Buckinghamshire Council and the local community on the details of the scheme.
