Shadow Front Bench Ministers Visit Pinewood Studios

This week, Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Thangam Debbonaire MP and Sir Chris Bryant MP, Shadow Minister, Creative Industries and Digital visited Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire. They met with Pinewood Group CEO David Conway,  Corporate Affairs Director, Andrew M Smith, and Director of Post Production Jens Christensen. The visit incorporated a tour of the Studios including the world-famous Underwater Stage as well as a demonstration of Pinewood Post Production facilities and services. Thangam Debbonaire MP and Sir Chris Bryant met students taking courses in Screenwriting, Modelmaking and Makeup with Creative Media Skills Institute, an education provider based on site.

It was fascinating to visit Pinewood and see, first hand, the enormous scale and wide breadth of the studio’s first-rate facilities. We spoke with talented crews and those learning their craft on the first steps of their journey into our world-leading film industry.

Despite facing significant challenges, the remarkable resilience of those who work on these productions, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes is remarkable. They make a huge contribution to economic growth, create a wide range of quality jobs and joy for people across the world.

 “Labour governments have always supported the screen sectors. Labour will continue to value our cutting-edge creative industries and boost the number of training opportunities by reforming the apprenticeship levy.”
