Shepperton Studios have awarded the first round of grants from their Education Fund. The £250,000 Fund launched in August 2024 to support film and media learning within local schools and education providers that serve the Shepperton area and wider borough of Spelthorne. The fund applications are reviewed and presented twice a year and managed by the Community Foundation for Surrey, in the same way as the already successful Shepperton Community Fund. This first round awarded grants to four organisations, Littleton Church of England Infant School, Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School, St Michael Catholic Primary School & Nursery, and Surrey SATRO (a STEM Education and Employability Skills Charity).
“We are delighted to be able to offer the Shepperton Studios Education Fund to local schools and education providers in Spelthorne. The fund forms part of our wider offer in addition to the Community Fund, and we were encouraged to see so many applications in the first round. Providing much needed funding will help support education providers to enhance children’s educational experience and opportunities. We encourage more schools to apply for the funding in the next round”.

“We are extremely grateful to have received the Shepperton Studios Education Fund. The grant is enabling us to enhance our computing equipment and expand opportunities for children to create their own animations. This provides children with the chance to develop skills in areas that may support their future careers. The grant has also provided green screen equipment to help bring the children's learning to life, including creating their own news reports”.

“This grant will allow us to offer transformative opportunities for our children to explore and understand the power of communication. It marks the beginning of a new era – one where every child, regardless of background, can find their voice and thrive. We are incredibly excited about the difference this will make across all groups in our school community”.
Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School,
SATRO is an educational charity working across South Central England. They work in schools with young people between the ages of 7-18 of all abilities. Their aim is to inspire and develop the aspirations of young people in the region; supporting them to develop their passions and explore pathways to a successful career which will benefit the regional economy, wider society and all their futures.
“SATRO is incredibly grateful to the Shepperton Studios Education Fund for their support for our new Vocational Skills for Stage & Screen course. This new course expands on our experience of delivering vocational construction skills to young people aged 14-16. In particular, we hope to encourage more girls with inspiring vocational pathways.
“Our vocational programmes develop skills, raise aspirations and improve confidence, laying the foundations for a career in industry. The support of businesses like Shepperton Studios is vital to delivering training that meets the needs of employers, prepares young people for the world of work and raises their aspirations about what is possible for them.”
“We are very grateful to Shepperton Studios for the grant. It will allow us to purchase new equipment, hardware and software that enhance our curriculum and extra-curricular activities. Our pupils will be able to use podcasting, animation and film to enhance their learning and improve their creativity. This is something we simply could not have done without the grant.”

St Michael Catholic Primary School & Nursery
“We are delighted to be working with Shepperton Studios to provide this funding. The world of film and media is a fantastic opportunity for our young people and an area in which the UK is world-leading, it is really important to be able to inspire Surrey children and young people about how they can get involved. In addition, the skills they learn will help them to improve their wider communication, engage and understand the viewpoints of others, and work collaboratively, all vital skills for their future. I look forward to seeing the outcomes of the projects funded, and to seeing more applications to this fund in future rounds.”
