The Roger Moore Stage Unveiled

On Sunday 15th October, it would have been Sir Roger Moore’s 90th birthday weekend, so in celebration of his life, and to honour the man who called Pinewood home for over 40 productions as well as keeping an office here since 1970, HRH The Countess of Wessex officially opened The Roger Moore Stage.

The afternoon at Pinewood saw 300 cast, crew, family and friends attend a very special private event. On-stage tributes came from Dame Joan Collins, Sir Michael Caine, Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and, on behalf of UNICEF, David Walliams.

Featuring live music from the Julian Rachlin Quartet and Q The Music, several of the star’s film vehicles adorned our stately gardens. The capacity crowd included Stefanie Powers, Stephen Fry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Lord Grade of Yarmouth, Sir Tim Rice, and Bond girls Madeline Smith, Gloria Hendry and Lynn-Holly Johnson. All the guests then enjoyed a post-ceremony afternoon tea.

Lady Moore and the star’s three children paid an emotional end tribute, saying just how proud Roger would be to see his name dominate the Pinewood lot.
